date:2020-12-16

1. Urban Land Use and Transportation Planning

The "Urban Land Use and Transportation Planning" teaching & research group follows the development rhythm of the world and pays close attention to the global academic frontier. It combines the advantages of the transportation discipline of Southwest Jiaotong University, integrates architecture, urban and rural planning, and other disciplines. It combines traditional data, emerging data (open data and big data), and mathematical models to research in fields such as transport hub planning and comprehensive development of stations, coordinated planning and optimization of transportation hubs and adjacent areas, urban spatial structure and transportation planning, and the relationship between travel/activity behavior and the built environment. It strives to produce more leading, state-of-the-art research results and lead domestic research in this research direction. Hopefully, it will transform its role from "following" to "leading." Moreover, its research results serve the practice of urban and rural sustainable development.

This group conducts interdisciplinary studies. It has 16 team members, including 3 professors and 5 associate professors. Among them, the Department of Urban and Rural Planning has 8 full-time teachers in this group, including 5 academic backbones. Professor Cui Xu is the group leader. He was selected as Tianfu Innovation Leader and Sichuan Academic and Technological Leader of Tianfu Ten Thousand People Plan, Tianfu Innovation Leader, and Sichuan Academic and Technological Leader of Tianfu Ten Thousand People Plan. In addition to him, there are two other professors, namely Yang Yu and Linchuan Yang, in this group. The team members led over three general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and XX provincial and ministerial scientific research projects.

2. Urban and Rural Ecology and Technology Science

Based on the background of urban and rural global planning and the overall management of land and space, the discipline direction of urban and rural ecology and technology science adopts interdisciplinary research methods, combining with mathematical models, computer simulation and other technical means, to carry out the multi-faceted research on systematic protection and efficient utilization of environmental resources with regional characteristics. It involves the construction of regional ecological security pattern in Western Sichuan, the ecological development of towns in Sichuan-Tibet region, the construction and efficient service of green space network system in Park City, the assessment of urban and rural built environment, the control of urban and rural development and ecological optimization.

This direction is an interdisciplinary direction, the subject leader is Professor Bi Linglan, and there are 12 team members, including 2 professors, 5 associate professors and 5 lecturers. Among them, there are 6 full-time teachers, 1 professor, 2 associate professors and 3 lecturers in the Department of Urban and Rural Planning. Professor Bi Linglan, the subject leader, mainly studies urban and rural planning technology science, urban planning and design, eco-city planning theory, presides over or participates in three projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, one special project of social science in Chengdu, publishes more than 20 papers, publishes the Twelfth Five-Year Plan of national planning textbooks for undergraduates of general higher education and 1 textbook for the 13th Five-Year Plan of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and has won more than 40 awards for teaching of urban and rural planning specialty and 2 awards for planning and design practice in addition.

3. Historical Towns and Regional Culture

Focus on the development of historical towns and regional culture, urban and rural planning theory and practice, and actively explore the research characteristics from the perspective of interdisciplinary. Emphasis is laid on the planning and design of ancient towns and rural planning. The characteristic academic research fields of this direction include:

1) Research on urban and rural history and culture in Chengdu Plain and western Sichuan province and western Sichuan Province;

2) Research on the theory and method of urban-rural integrated planning in Chengdu Plain area and western Sichuan Province;

3) Research on the theory and method of conservation planning of historic towns in Chengdu Plain and western Sichuan Province.

Professor Heng Cui is the leader of this discipline. There are 10 full-time teachers in this direction, including 2 professors and 5 associate professors. Professor Cui Heng's main research fields are urban construction and development history, urban planning history and theory, urban and rural planning theory and practice, etc. In recent years, he has presided over two sub-projects of the 11th and 12th Five-Year National Science and Technology Support Projects and participated in one general project of the Natural Science Foundation of China. She has published more than 20 academic papers and won more than 20 honors for her outstanding achievement in teaching and research.

4. Urban and Rural Planning Theory and Practice

This direction combines the needs of national spatial planning in the new era, integrates the new trend of emerging technologies, carries out localized planning research and practice around the relevant contents of traditional urban and rural planning and design fields, and explores planning theories and practical concepts reflecting high-quality development demands and regional humanistic characteristics. The characteristic academic research fields of this direction include:

(1) The planning theory and implementation path of Gongyuan City under the background of the Ecological Civilization.

(2) Research on urban and rural spatial renewal and post-disaster reconstruction in western Sichuan.

(3) Research on TOD urban design strategy and control method integrating green traffic and slow-moving network.

The subject leader is Professor Qiu Jian. There are 11 full-time teachers in this group, including 3 professors and 4 associate professors. Professor Qiu Jian's main research fields are Gongyuan City planning theory and method, post-disaster reconstruction planning theory and method, landscape engineering and barrier-free design. In recent years, he has undertaken a number of national and provincial scientific research projects and published more than 50 academic papers. At the same time, he participated in the management practice of urban and rural planning in Sichuan Province, and was responsible for organizing and coordinating the related planning work of post-earthquake reconstruction. In 2020, his project won the first prize for scientific and technological progress in Sichuan Province.
