"Youth drew on drawings": the graduation and degree-awarding ceremony of 2021 students of SA&D successfully was held

On June 18, 2021, graduates of SA&D with their teachers gathered in the student center on the 3rd floor of the first canteen to participate in the graduation and degree-awarding ceremony with the theme "Youth drawn on drawings".

Shen Zhongwei, dean of SA&D, Wu Xiaoxiong, Secretary of the Party committee of SA&D, Zhi Jinyi, Cui Xu and Yang Qingjuan, vice deans, Liu Chunyao, assistant to the dean, and other officials and faculty were invited to attend the graduation ceremony. Teachers from all departments of SA&D, their colleagues from the office center, class tutors, and graduate counselors were also present. Liu Yijie, deputy secretary of the Party committee of the college, presided over the ceremony.

The ceremony kicked off in a series of warm graduation videos. What followed was all teachers and students singing the national anthem to show their patriotism. Then, President Shen delivered a speech as giving the graduates the "last class" with four hopes: first, we should keep the eyes on the stars and feet on the ground, remain true to rugged individualism, and be an empathetic, ambitious, and decent builders. Second, we should be down-to-earth when taking every step of life and never be irresponsible. Third, we should be diligent in thinking and learning and striving to grasp the essence of things in order not to be trapped by complex representations. Fourth, we should have a broad vision and keep broadening our minds, so that we can seize opportunities and succeed.

Associate Professor Zhu Ying, also a tutor of class 1 of architecture, delivered a representative speech where she sent her blessings that the students will have and persist with their own goals in life with the belief that the future is shining and good news is nearing.

Then, the representatives of undergraduate and graduate students Jia Rui and Zhang Jiyin gave their addresses, where they reviewed their unforgettable memories of college life, thanked their alma mater and teachers for their training, and made clear that they would live up to their expectations and strive to become the pride of their alma mater.

At the ceremony, Secretary of the Party committee Wu Xiaoxiong read out the honour list of the 2021 outstanding graduates of the college. Eight postgraduates such as Zeng Li and 17 undergraduates such as Feng Yan won the honorary title of provincial excellent graduates, 20 postgraduates such as He Shuoshuo and 42 undergraduates such as Jia Rui won the honorary title of school level excellent graduates, the graduation works of seven students such as Wang Jiawen were rated as excellent graduation works, and five comrades such as Quanyi won the honorary title of Excellent Communist Party members of the college.

Accompanied by high pitched music, a climax was reached when the degree committee of the SA&D turning the tassel for the graduates, awarding the degree, and taking a group photo.

SA&D has carefully made a souvenir book for each graduate as a gift to help them better cherish the good memories at school. At the ceremony, President Shen and secretary Wu presented these graduation gifts and took a group photo for the representatives of graduate students.

Students from Class 3 of architecture of grade 2016 sang the song "see you later" to tell the heartfelt feelings of the graduates and express their gratitude and nostalgia for the college,which aroused the resonance of all the students on site.

With the school song of SWJTU, the graduation and awarding ceremony were successfully rounded off.

It marked a phased end for the 2021 graduates, allowing them to rush to the future with the sincere concern and ardent hope of SA&D. It is hoped that students could internalize the motto of Jiaotong University and the college's belief of "build dreams, design the future" to create a bright future!
