The 5th Sichuan Nomination Exhibition of Print & 2020 Academic Invitational Exhibition by Print Art Committee of Sichuan Artists Association opened in the Art Museum

April 16, 2021, The 5th Sichuan Nomination Exhibition of Print & 2020 Academic Invitational Exhibition by Print Art Committee of Sichuan Artists Association" was solemnly opened at the Art Museum, Southwest Jiaotong University. Sponsors included Sichuan Artists Association, Sichuan Art Museum and the School of Architecture and Design of Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU). Co- organizers included Print Art Committee of Sichuan Artists Association, Fine Arts Department of the School of Architecture and Design of SWJTU and the Art Museum of SWJTU.

At the opening ceremony, Yao Faming, vice president of Southwest Jiao Tong University, gave a welcoming speech. He firstly expressed his gratitude to present artists. With their great works,  students would improve their aesthetic ability and grow more comprehensively. Then, he elucidated the new environment for arts after the Eighteenth National Congress of the CPC. General Secretary Xi Jinping has long attached great importance to the development of literature and art. In a series of important speeches, he expounded the status, significance and function of socialist literature and art, put forward an important proposition that guiding socialist literature and art from overall situation in a strategical way, thus developing Marxist theory of literature and art, and clarifying the orientation and mission of today’s Chinese literature and art. Under the guidance of Xi Jinping's literary and artistic thoughts, many changes have taken place in the art circle. Sichuan, as an important base of printmaking nationwide, has played an important role since the Anti Japanese war. In the past decades, salient talents and artists have emerged one after another in Sichuan and printmaking creation here has therefore flourished. Finally he hoped that artists could pay more attention to the academic quality of art creation, take the important role of excellent art works in consolidating national spirit seriously, strive to express Chinese artistic conception in creation, pursue and highlight Chinese style.

Later, Ms. a Ge, honorary chairman of Sichuan Artists Association and curator of Shenzhou Print Museum, delivered a speech to thank Southwest Jiaotong University for its strong support for the event, and wish the Nomination Exhibition of Print a complete success.

After the opening ceremony, guests were invited to visit the exhibition.

More than 80 prints by famous artists including Xu Kuang, A Ge, Kuang Minghui, Gan Tingjian, Ma Liping, he Sien and Cui Botao are exhibited for 15 days until May 1, 2021.

It is reported that the nominating institutions for this event include the print art committee of Sichuan Artists Association, Art College of Southwest Minzu University, Fine Arts & Calligraphy College of Sichuan Normal University, Fine Arts College of Chengdu Normal University, Chengdu Vocational University of the Arts and Sichuan University of Culture and Arts.
